I have collected a couple of quotes of Nelson's through out the years and compiled them here. They are in no particular order or theme. I just post as I find. Some of them are his personal quotes while others are those of his character.

The only thing I have done, is list the controversal qoutes in thier own section. These are quotes that have to do with Nelson's relationship with Jeanette MacDonald. These are listed on the bottom under Controvseral Quotes. This is done in consideration of those Fans who prefer not to see them or believe them to be something else.

He refused to see his own films "simply because I was too ashamed of them."

During his '60s nightclub tour: "I want to keep going till I drop."

Reacting to seeing himself in an elaborate costume and makeup onscreen: "Get him. Ain't he purty?"

Marianne: Yes, I know you won't.
(New Moon)

Ramirez: I hope I'll see you again sometime. Yeah?
Mary Robbins: I hope I'll see you again sometime too. Dangling on the end of a rope!
(Girl of The Golden West)

Karl: That's it. Throw it away. Throw it in the waste basket. My present to you on your 26th birthday.

Maria: 25th.

Karl: 26th.

Marie: 25th

Karl: Oh for the love of heaven, what does it matter?

Maria: Oh, but it does matter.

Karl: So what if it is the 26th? How cares? Who cares? (Chocolate Soldier)

Karl: 11:36, May the 8th! The unhappiest moment of my life. (Chocolate Soldier)

Richard: I am full of interest, right now!(Naughty Marietta)

Richard: Do you know the way to the Governors Office Lt.?

Man: Of course, though the woods. Quite Pretty (Naughty Marietta)

I know, I know the world wants love. I know that the fans want love on the air. Of course they do. They want love on the air as they want love in pictures, in the theatre, in novels and poems. And I want to give them love on the air - but not cheap love, not a low - class type of love (Nelson Eddy)

In society, one doesn't tell the truth, one tells the exact opposite. (Nelson Eddy)

Let's have the music that will open the door to millions of people... the kind of music that will not make people think only of the song or even of the singer... not music that is confined to the merely personal. (Nelson Eddy)

The Electric Hour has spark. (Nelson Eddy)

Controversal Quotes

"I wanted children, naturally assumed they'd be there in my life.  I was almost a father--twice.  But she (Jeanette) wasn't strong enough, she couldn't have a bird. Once I married, I knew that any thought of children was gone.  I'd hoped even to adopt but  it was impossible under the circumstances.  It's too late for me now.  I used to love children, but I don't like being around them much now.  I'm envious, though, seeing other parent's; at one time it meant everything to me." -Nelson Eddy, 1951 (Taken from MacEddy Today Magazine)
