Cambridge Springs news (May 22, 2004)
(Email from Diane)

Hello group,
I just received an email from Dr. John Marsh that this year will be his last program given at Cambridge Springs. So, all of you who are sitting on the fence as to whether you will attend or not, this may be your last chance to gather together at Cambridge Springs, PA with other Nelson admirers. Check out our website for all the information on this development as well as the week's agenda for June 24-30. http://www.NEAS.NAME

I also want to emphasize that this is YOUR Society and I wish to hear from everyone on thoughts and ideas of how to proceed in the future. Any and all ideas are welcomed, so email or write to me. Some options are to try to continue at CS, or have local meetings around the country. We could discuss if a full week would continue, or maybe an extended weekend. There are other areas to explore in the CS area, like the Jimmy Stewart Museum near Pittsburg. I have investigated bus travel from CS to the museum. It would cost under $20 per person to participate in that activity. This trip is not planned for this year, however. Keep in mind that expenses must be controlled and lots of planning may fall on the "host" of the geologic region. Local hosts could set up a weekend to emphasize the cultural venues in their area. As an example, if I were to host in the Detroit area, we have a wonderful revival theater in town, showing the old movies. Live theater and/or concerts are also a possibility. These get togethers would not be all cost inclusive as is CS, though. We will also have discussions at Cambridge this summer in this regard. So, submit your thoughts and hopes for the future of NEAS and its gatherings. We want to hear from YOU. Yes, this is a year of many changes, but together we can keep NEAS thriving to keep Nelson's name and legacy alive for future generations.

Fondly,
Diane Flaherty, Pres, NEAS

NEAS opens Offical Site (May 16, 2004)

Recently NEAS has presented itself to the World Wide Web with it's brand new site, designed by webdesigner Ginny Sayre who owns our affliate Reel Jewels. It also has the new option of applying for membership online using Paypal. Diane, who ran the Nelson Eddy Drive trip, has become the president of the NEAS and was the one leading for the website. Please visit the website and check out the internet face of the organization.

Nelson Eddy's Star's Refurbished (October 1, 2003)

Now that the Nelson Eddy Dedication has come and past, we were able to find out what was that secret. Arabella and Co has paid for the refurbishing of the three stars that Nelson holds. People were lucky to see the newly cleaned stars when they went this weekend.

Nelson Eddy Dedication (October 1, 2003)

The Nelson Eddy Drive Dedication (September 27, 2003) that happened this weekend seems to have gone without major difficulty. For more information about what happened this past weekend, please see the page dedicated to this event, with accounts from several participants as well as pictures and articles.

Nelson Dedication Update (August 10, 2003)

The Nelson Eddy Street Dedication is well underway in the planning stages and is going along fine. The program list is being made as well as some awards to be given out to major contributors and other special guests. Diane has given me more information to be posted here. She sent me the following email:

Some have wondered if a collection is being taken for flowers. I am including a hyperlink to the cemetery's florist, whom I have dealt with before and they do lovely work.

http://www.forevernetwork.com/flowersandgifts/showitems.cfm?CategoryID=6

You could also FTD from your local florist, of course. I know some are already planning to send or bring flowers and NEAS will be represented with a floral tribute as well.

I will be posting an agenda for the program in the lobby of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Printed programs will be available as well. Although there will be a few private cars on site, please plan to take a cab or provide your own transportation for the short trip to the cemetery from the hotel. Cabs can be arranged through the parking valet in the lower lobby of the hotel.

Remember to get those reservations in at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel so we can all be together and maximize our time together. reserve@hollywoodroosevelt.com

Diane

Make your reservations soon. I unfortunately will not be attending due to prior engagements (AKA High School)m but I want everyone to go and tell me what happens! Dorothy K. Jadlowiec has already agreed to making a summery of the trip when she returns and I am going to ask a few more of my Nelson friends who are going to write about what happened. Hopefully you will see a Nelson Dedication page in the future!

The Nelson Eddy/Jeanette MacDonald Chat has a New Blog! (August 10, 2003)

I know I have added this before, but it doesn't hurt to give an official announcement. The chat has a new blog and it can be found here

Hollywood Forever Update Version 2.0!

Things are going well in the planning for the dedication ceremony for Nelson Eddy Street in Hollywood Forever Ceremony. Kathryn Grayson and Mayor Johnny Grant may make apperances as well as Dorothy Jadolowiec of Arabella and Co, Ginny Sayre of ReelJewels and Sharon Rich of MacEddy. Helen Crawford has managed to arrange a special rate for Hotal rooms at the wonderful Roosevelt Hotel. More details can be found here: Eleanor Dugan's Information Page. I will have more information soon, as I am going to be talking to Diane Flaherty

Surprises in Hollywood?

Apparently there is a rumor of a surprise for Nelson fans happening in Hollywood during the time of the Dedication ceremonies. I am currently checking into this development and shall report back when information arises.

Hollywood Forever Update

The Ceremony for naming the street has been set for September 27, 2003. Everyone is welcome to attend. It takes place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary.
Hollywood Forever

During the past year, Nelson fans have gathered together to collect money for Nelson Eddy Drive at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood CA. Recently it has been reported that this has been acheieved. The money gathered in this will be given to Hollywood Forever and a stretch of road will be named "Nelson Eddy Drive" in the cemetery. This is to raise funds to help improve the property which has been neglected for many years. More information on this project will come in the future. You can contact Diane Flaherty for More information. She will be updating Via this site as well as email and the Nelson and Jeanette list.
